Kanata Health Solutions Inc., formerly Redengine Health Inc., has garnered a great deal of attention in the news recently. The company, which is a spin-off company of the U of A faculty of Medicine, is promoting its remote wireless patient monitoring system, which operates using technology developed by Redengine.

This innovative solution tracks a patient's physiological data, which is transmitted via bluetooth technology to monitoring stations where treatment decisions can be made formulated. The aim is to reduce the burden on our healthcare system and to allow patients with chronic diseases, such as diabetes, to manage their conditions so they can remain out of chronic care facilities longer.
