City of Edmonton EXPO 2017

The City of Edmonton needed a web solution that would promote EXPO 2017. The challenge was to create a website that would embody this world class event and augment their associated communications efforts. In addition, they wanted to integrate their customer relationship database (Sugar CRM) so that they could continue to communicate with interested audiences beyond their website visit.

It was a key requirement that, once deployed, the site would be easy to maintain and update on a regular basis by non-technical staff - and everything needed to be completed within the space of a month.

The site was deployed using Umbraco in both english and french. Using tools of Web 2.0 (such as YouTube, Facebook and Twitter), it incorporates viral marketing elements that will help generate awareness and excitement prior to the event.

Since its launch in early June, the site has garnered close to 2,000 unique visitors from 23 countries. These visitors are provided an opportunity to co-create content surrounding the event through the integrated Web 2.0 elements - ultiimately contributing to the event's success. The site's integration with Sugar CRM enables organizers to capture information from unique visitors to facilitate effective communications surrounding the event. The client is pleased with the initial results of this newly launched website and looks forward to hosting this world class event.
