Case Studies

Alberta Sport, Recreation, Parks & Wildlife Foundation

The Alberta Sport, Recreation, Parks and Wildlife Foundation (ASRPWF) needed a site that would be easy to operate from both sides; that of the visitor, and that of the organization. The ASRPWF, committed to communication and community, needed to make sure their site was clear, concise and easy to navigate, providing important information to a varied audience. One of the challenges was making a site that offered room for regular updates, while storing information pertaining to each business unit of the ASRPWF. The other challenge was making sure staff at the ASRPWF could make edits to the site easily.

Working with the ASRPWF, Redengine undertook a discovery process to carefully assess the needs of the foundation's diverse working groups and incorporated card sorting and user testing to reaffirm the Information Architecture. By implementing this step of research, we were able to confirm that the site made sense to real users of the site and acommodated all the information the ASRPWF needed to provide to a wide variety of audience members. Using Umbraco, Redengine was able to produce a website that made site edits and changes easy and accessible to many, often while staff are off site. Because the organization is so responsive to the public, Redengine was also able to consult on how they might incorporate social media and search optimization.

The ASRPWF website is an attractive site that merges clear information with design. Redengine's work with the ASRWPF has resulted in positive changes benefiting both the organization and those visiting their site and allows the public immediate access to information as it emerges. The ASRPWF staff are equipped to modify the site remotely so that they can fully support the initiatives of the foundation in a timely fashion.
