Grant MacEwan University

Established in 1971, MacEwan College has grown into one of the largest post secondary institutions in Alberta, serving nearly 40,000 students a year. MacEwan offers more than 60 certificate and diploma programs, 10 University transfer programs, several bachelor's degrees, and a host of other professional and personal development courses.

As you can imagine, an institution of the size and scope of MacEwan is enormously complex. The College's operations are highly decentralized, with multiple largely independent divisions. Managing the web presence of an organization like this is an inherently difficult task, but MacEwan's challenge was amplified by a lack of management tools. The entire site was maintained by a webmaster, resulting in inconsistent display, stale content and an unmanageable workload for the technical team

Redengine began with a series of strategy sessions designed to assess the state of the website and consult with key college stakeholders.  In addition, we created a flexible and visually appealing template that allows each division to develop their own flavour within the overall college brand. The final critical piece of the puzzle was implementing a Content Management System (CMS) that allows approved contributors from around the college to post content without technical assistance in a timely manner.

Redengine is happy to have enabled the college to extend their brand and increase their functionalty with students. The addition of new tools in 2002 enabled the team to split the workload among many to ensure content is fresh and new while maintaining a consistent look and feel. We are proud to continue our long standing relationship with MacEwan and strive to continually meet their expectations and needs.
